Scope and Contents:
This series (17 files) consists of materials from 1924 to 2004 that provide documentation of academic organizations and includes funding requests, registration sheets, correspondence, constitutions, minutes, clippings, photographs, and qualification and induction materials. Prior to the first college classes offered in 1918, Rockhurst College was a day school for high school boys. The first Academic Organizations to be offered in 1918 were combined high school and college organizations and covered lecture, literature and debate, all focused on acquiring the skills to speak in public and make one's position understood. The earliest records in this collection are the constitution and organizational materials of the Philosophy club for college students in 1924 and the Scholarship club in 1942.
