Biographical / Historical
Janet Watson Sheeran became Interim President at the resignation of Rev. Peter B. Ely, S.J.. She held the position from 1997 to 1998, becoming the first woman and lay person to hold the position. Ms. Sheeran came to Rockhurst in 1977, teaching in the Communications and Fine Arts Department. She later became Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1991-1997, when she accepted the position of Interim President. When a permanent replacement was found,Ms Sheeran left Rockhurst for Saint Michael's College in Vermont.
