The Library Building

Some universities have more than one library.  Other types of libraries you may have access to:  Science library, Education library, Law library, Medical library, Art library, Archives library.

Many libraries will have maps or details on how their library system is organized.  You can even ask the library staff to schedule a library tour!

Academic Libraries v. School/Public Libraries

The library at Rockhurst University uses the Library of Congress Classification system to organize the books.  This is a different from the Dewey Decimal System used by school and public libraries.  Dewey is divided into ten numbered catagories.

Library of Congres uses an alphanumeric division to allow for more specific catagories.

But don't worry, finding books is very easy.   After you find a title in the catalog, you will use the call number to find the book on the shelf.
