Historical Note
Rockhurst University has included an emphasis on business and leadership education since 1933 when it offered the first co-educational business degree in Kansas City. The part-time MBA program began in 1976 and the executive MBA followed in 1978. In 198 1, Rockhurst University received a grant from the William Hall of the Hallmark Foundation, along with a challenge for excellence in management education. The School of Management, later to be called the Helzberg School of Management, was formally established in 1983. The school has achieved AACSB Accreditation and continues to be a leader in leadership education in Kansas City.

Content Description
This legacy collection deals with information related to Rockhurst University's School of Management. The materials include files from various committees over the course of the school's history, long-range planning documents, administrative correspondence, files related to the foundation of the school, information about events, publications, and historical documents on the organizational predecessors to the School of Management. This collection consists of physical paper, photographs, and books only, meaning no special equipment is necessary to view it. This collection does not include any information or documents related to the acquisition of the Helzberg name to the school
