Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is the way you can access books and articles that aren't in our library. Here are the steps you'll take:
- See if we have it in our library: From the library homepage - rockhurst.edu/library - type the title in the OneSearch box. E-books will have full-text and PDF links (but make sure it's the whole book, not just a review); physical copies will have Location and Status information (so you can come in and grab it yourself) and a "Retrieve Catalog Item" that takes you to the item page where you can place a hold if there's an Available copy (so we'll pull it for you, let you know when it's ready, and you can pick it up at the Front Desk).
- See if one of our partner libraries has it: We belong to MOBIUS, a consortium of ~80 libraries (mostly in Missouri) that shares a 'union catalog' and a courier delivery service. You can search for items and request available copies at rockhurst.searchmobius.org. You can also click the "Library Catalog", try your search in our local catalog, then click the 'Search for XXXXX in MOBIUS' link that comes up if you get zero search results. If there are Available copies, click 'Place a hold', and if you're not signed in yet, sign in with your Rockhurst SSO. You'll get a message that your request was successful and an email when your item arrives.
- Request it through 'traditional' ILL: Didn't find it in our collection or in MOBIUS? Click the "Interlibrary Loan" link on the library homepage. Sign in with your Rockhurst SSO, click 'Create request', and select 'Book/AV - LOAN'. Fill out as much of the form as you can and 'Submit request'. You'll get an email when your item arrives. PLEASE NOTE: Traditional ILL usually takes longer than MOBIUS requests. Don't procrastinate and try finding it in our catalog or the MOBIUS catalog first.
- See if we have it in our library: From the library homepage - rockhurst.edu/library - type the article title in the OneSearch box. Full-text articles will have PDF or HTML links. You can also try the 'Journal Finder' link on the library homepage. Type in the journal title and, if we have database coverage, you will see the dates covered along with any publisher embargoes. Click the database title and drill down to the year, volume, issue, and page number of your article.
- If we don't have full-text access, but you found the article indexed in OneSearch: Just click the 'Request Interlibrary Loan (ILL)' link. All of the citation information will automatically transfer over to the COPY ILL form. Enter any comments you need to and click 'Submit request'. You'll get an email notification when the PDF is in your account along with access instructions.
- Request it through 'traditional' ILL: Didn't find it indexed in OneSearch? Click the "Interlibrary Loan" link on the library homepage. Sign in with your Rockhurst SSO, click 'Create request', and select 'Article/Chapter - COPY''. Fill out as much of the form as you can and 'Submit request'. You'll get an email notification when the PDF is in your account along with access instructions.
