Linking to ScienceDirect

ScienceDirect uses DOIs (digital object identifiers) for its permalinks.

1. Be sure to right click and "copy link address" to capture the entire DOI. Using the example below, when you copy the link address, it looks like this: https://doi-org.lib.rockhurst.edu/10.1016/S1751-4851(20)30066-0. Copy only the DOI numbers after lib.rockhurst.edu.

2.  The DOI is incomplete:  it needs a fuller URL and the library's proxy URL  --10.1016/S1751-4851(20)30066-0 (incomplete link)

3.  The complete URL requires adding: https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/S1751-4851(20)30066-0

4.  Add the Library Proxy URL to precede the article URL

Example: https://lib.rockhurst.edu/login?url=https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/S1751-4851(20)30066-0

5. Lastly, make certain to hyperlink the proxied URL to the article citation. Note: some databases are still using APA 6th and you may need to update the citation to the new rules in the 7th edition.
