Faculty: Linking to Library Resources

General Linking Information

Linking to Text Sections

HEB is OpenURL compliant on the title level, but not on the chapter and page level. In order to offer the most stable link to an individual title, use the Citable Link on the title record page of each book, but make certain to edit the URL as described in the steps below to develop your permalink.

How to Link

1.Search for an ACLS Humanities Ebook (HEB) through the link on the library databases page. You can get a link for the entire book by copying the Citable Link.

undefined

2. Identify the ACLS Humanities E-Book and the chapter where you would like to direct the link.

3. Click into the chapter you want to link and copy the URL from the address bar.

undefined

4. Delete the lib.rockhurst.edu from the URL.

5. Add the library's proxy URL (https://lib.rockhurst.edu/login?url=) to the front of the Stable URL before copying and pasting the entire persistent link in your Canvas page.

6. Beware! Make sure to look closely at the website URL and change the dashes to periods!

Example for the record above: https://lib.rockhurst.edu/login?url=https://www.fulcrum.org/epubs/xw42n9707?locale=en#/6/62[xhtml00000030]!/4/4/1:0

7. The preferred method of linking to resources is to hyperlink the citation.
